Has January been a busy month for you? Make sure you haven’t missed out on any of this month’s news by taking a look over our January recap.

Here you will find exciting product launches, successful projects, new appointments and partnerships, as well as the latest financial news within the parking industry.

Product Launches

Both Circontrol and Flex Lighting Solutions have launched new products, getting their year off to a great start. Cosmos, the new cloud solution from Circontrol, makes it possible for users to monitor, generate customizable reports and invoices from a set of charging stations. Whilst Flex has launched the LS1 Series, an innovative new solution featuring Sensor Anywhere, an easy to install system that gives flexibility to specifiers and designers, making creative lighting scenes a possibility.

At Saint Cloud State University in Minnesota, convenient remote parking payment is now a possibility for students and visitors following the introduction of Flowbird’s WayToPark app.

And, at the beginning of the month HERE Technologies announced that it was expanding the capabilities of HERE OTA Connect to not only manage remote updates and distribute software and firmware but to automatize remote diagnostics and reduce error fix time.

Recent Projects and Installations

January has been a busy month for many of our members, with new installations across the globe.

In Interlaken, a cloud-based parking surveillance system from Hectronic has brought clarity to coach parking occupancy. And in the City of Walnut Creek, a multi-carpark installation from SKIDATA has replaced a nine-year-old token system with a comprehensive PARCS solution.

INDECT USA has been chosen as the preferred parking guidance system for Washington’s new luxury lifestyle center, successfully introduced the first gateless premium parking area in the US and completed an installed at Gun Lake Casino.

Q-Park has transformed a disused railway station in Manchester into a modern parking garage, and in Venlo, they have been chosen as the operator of a new parking garage.

A world premiere, wooden parking garage in Switzerland has installed project w fall protection. Whilst the grade two listed Preston Bus Station has undergone an extensive renovation which includes a waterproofing and surfacing solution provided by Triflex.

Parking Guidance systems are now alleviating congestion and improving the customer experience at the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts, Olympia Shopping Center in Antibes, and The University of California San Diego, following installations by Parkxper, ParkHelp, and Park Assist.

Financial News

In response to the increasing demand amongst airports for revenue management, IDeaS has revved up its parking segment investment.

Cleverciti marked the end of 2018 with strong results, having secured 13 new installations in Q4 2018 and projected more than 20 new deals to close in Q1 2019 in a wide range of targeted vertical markets, including retail, corporate campuses, and smart cities. 

AccorHotels, Groupe ADP and Keolis have helped Onepark raise 15 million euros, accelerating the company’s growth in Europe and helping it to strengthen its leading position in France, its presence in Germany, Italy and the Netherlands, and new markets such as Portugal.

Partnerships and Mergers

Corporate man and woman shake hands in office buildingJanuary marked an important month for Flowbird as they entered into a number of strategic partnerships. The City of Savannah has unveiled a digital pre-paid parking system installed by Flowbird, the company has strengthened its presence in Ohio by partnering with Citywide Solutions, and a partnership with Grand Rapids is helping to expand the city’s mobility and transportation.

In Huntsville, parking has launched into the digital age following a successful partnership with Passport, which has seen the introduction of Passport’s mobile payment application across the city.

Mobile Smart City has entered into an agreement with Mobile Smart City to be a US distributor or Hectronic Parking Solutions. And Automatización y Tráfico ALTO has become DESIGNA ALTO in a move which sees DESIGNA continue to invest in Mexico.

NHS Shared Business Services

In the UK, both Scheidt & Bachmann and Smart Parking has secured contracts with the NHS Shared Business Services. The "Car Park Management and Infrastructure" framework agreement is set to make the provision and maintenance of car parking simpler and cheaper for the public sector.

Appointments

January saw a number of new appointments within the parking industry. Passport welcomed seasoned payments executive, Brian Mooney to the board of directors. Jeffrey Johnson brought 12 years of parking industry experience with him to FlashParking, following his appointment as Vice President of Enterprise Solutions.

Both DESIGNA and Scheidt & Bachmann bolstered their management boards with multiple new appointments. And Daniel Ungar, the former Head of Project Controlling and Project Portfolio Management of Volkswagen Financial Services Digital Solutions GmbH, joined the management board of sunhill technologies GmbH.

Renewed Certifications

Syndicate Secure Print has renewed their certifications with both SKIDATA and Amano McGann whilst nagels has been certified by Scheidt & Bachmann once again.

Office Moves and Openings

Several businesses, including ParkCloud, welcomed the new year with office moves.

And Scheidt & Bachmann has announced that Phoenix, Arizona will be the location for its new Western Region Innovation & Testing Center of Excellence. The announcement accompanies the appointment Amy Jenks as Regional Vice President for the North America-West Region and the creation of 20 high-tech jobs.
