Parking, electric charging and shopping is now very easy at Q-Park Zuidplein 1 in Rotterdam. There, Q-Park has expanded to 28 charging stations, four of which are fast chargers. This offers more (charging) convenience for visitors and residents of the area.

Q-Park Zuidplein 1 is the second location where fast chargers have been installed in collaboration with Shell. The four fast chargers each supply up to a maximum of 175 kWh. In addition, there are 24 regular charging stations available with a maximum of 11 kWh. With this expansion, Q-Park confirms its commitment to facilitating EV drivers and meeting the growing demand for charging facilities.

“We have been working with Shell for more than ten years to facilitate charging infrastructure and we are still expanding,” says Michiel Tenge, general manager at Q-Park Netherlands. “The demand for charging stations is increasing and we are happy to make our space available. for new forms of service such as fast charging.”

Mobility solutions for visitors and residents

Q-Park contributes to smart mobility solutions to keep cities accessible and liveable. Convenience for the customer is central and it is the combination of services that provide a solution. Visitors to the Zuidplein Shopping Center or the Rotterdam Ahoy event location can charge their car while doing their shopping, going on a day of shopping or attending a concert. The nearby public transport hub makes an easy transfer possible. Affordable parking is available on the edge of the city and the last kilometers to the center can be covered by bus or tram.

In addition, it facilitates EV drivers who live or work nearby. Think of taxis, courier services, community nurses and healthcare providers. They are being asked to drive more and more electrically and can now easily charge (fast) in between and hit the road again recharged.

Zuidplein area development

The area around Zuidplein, also called Hart van Zuid, has developed considerably in recent years. As a mobility partner , Q-Park has played an active role in realizing the connecting road between the Ikazia Hospital, Zuidplein Shopping Center and the public transport interchange. Due to the renovation of the parking garage, there is now a well-lit walking route that is open 24/7. Several entrances and exits have also been created, improving the accessibility of Q-Park Zuidplein 1 and connecting it to the Q-Park Zuidplein 2 garage.

Due to the expansion of the shopping center, new entrepreneurs have established themselves in the area and reached new customer groups. Thanks to these area developments, a fully-fledged center has been created in South Rotterdam for residents and visitors. The addition of charging facilities is an important part of this.
