Supply Chain Manager (Various Locations, US)
Position Summary
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for developing and executing Amano McGann's national inventory and supply chain strategy to support both field service and installation operations. This position ensures every branch maintains the optimal inventory required to support its installed product base, service demand, and project activity while balancing inventory investment, availability, and operational efficiency.
Working cross-functionally with Regional Managers, Service Managers, Project Management, Sales, Finance, and Executive Leadership, the Supply Chain Manager develops data-driven inventory strategies that improve technician readiness, maximize first-time fix rates, reduce excess inventory, and ensure materials are available to support customer commitments.
This role serves as the company's leader in inventory optimization, supply chain analytics, warehouse operations, truck stock strategy, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Strategy & Optimization
- Develop and execute a national inventory strategy that aligns inventory investment with customer demand and operational requirements.
- Determine optimal inventory levels for each branch based on installed equipment, historical consumption, service trends, geography, customer mix, and project pipeline.
- Establish and maintain branch-specific minimum and maximum inventory levels.
- Continuously evaluate inventory turns, carrying costs, fill rates, stockouts, and inventory health.
- Recommend inventory transfers between branches to maximize utilization and reduce unnecessary purchases.
- Develop inventory segmentation strategies for critical, fast-moving, slow-moving, and specialty materials.
Service Parts Strategy
- Develop and maintain a national service parts stocking strategy.
- Analyze installed equipment by territory to determine required service inventory.
- Standardize commonly stocked service parts across all branch locations.
- Recommend regional stocking strategies for specialized or low-volume products.
- Ensure inventory supports company goals for first-time fix rates and customer response times.
Branch Inventory Management
- Partner with Regional Managers and Service Managers to maintain accurate branch inventory.
- Conduct routine inventory reviews and establish inventory performance standards.
- Improve inventory accuracy through standardized processes and cycle count programs.
- Monitor warehouse organization and inventory control procedures.
- Assist branch leadership with inventory planning for seasonal demand and large customer requirements.
Truck Stock Optimization
- Develop standardized truck stock programs by technician role and territory.
- Analyze service history and failure trends to determine optimal technician inventory.
- Standardize truck stock replenishment processes across all markets.
- Reduce technician downtime caused by unavailable materials.
- Minimize emergency shipments and repeat service visits through improved truck inventory management.
Demand Planning & Forecasting
- Develop inventory forecasting models using historical demand, service trends, sales forecasts, and project schedules.
- Collaborate with Sales and Project Management to anticipate future inventory requirements.
- Partner with Purchasing to ensure timely procurement of materials.
- Monitor forecast accuracy and continuously improve planning methodologies.
Aging & Obsolete Inventory Management
- Develop company-wide strategies to reduce aging inventory.
- Identify excess inventory and implement redistribution plans across branch locations.
- Establish programs for inventory liquidation, vendor returns, and alternate utilization.
- Monitor inventory aging metrics and establish reduction targets.
- Recommend inventory reserve strategies in partnership with Finance.
Process Improvement
- Develop standardized inventory policies and procedures across all branch locations.
- Identify opportunities to automate inventory replenishment and reporting.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that improve supply chain efficiency.
- Support ERP, inventory management, and warehouse system enhancements.
- Standardize warehouse layouts, inventory labeling, and storage best practices.
- Establish governance around inventory transactions and accountability.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Regional Managers to ensure branch inventory supports customer demand.
- Work closely with Service Managers to optimize technician readiness.
- Collaborate with Purchasing to improve procurement strategies.
- Support Finance with inventory valuation and working capital initiatives.
- Partner with Sales and Project Management to align inventory with future business needs.
- Serve as the company's subject matter expert on inventory management and supply chain best practices.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree, Business, Logistics, Operations Management, or related field required.
Experience
- 7+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, inventory management, logistics, or operations.
- Experience supporting multi-site service organizations or distributed field operations preferred.
- Experience with inventory forecasting, warehouse management, purchasing, and inventory optimization.
- ERP and inventory management systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
- Experience with Power BI or similar business intelligence tools preferred.
