The Role

About the Role

As the Area Commercial Manager, you will lead and be responsible for the commercial development and growth within the North of England and Scotland by developing relationships and a network of potential opportunities, pursuing and stimulating leads, working with and supporting business wide sales and marketing initiatives and developing beneficial relationships with each client and key stakeholders to ensure that APCOA is well-placed to deliver and grow its service offering.

You will lead, motivate and develop the Area team and through them manage and deliver an effective and efficient customer service-focused operation across the Area for your clients and customers. You’ll provide the focus, direction and leadership required to ensure that each contract meets and exceeds the expectations of our clients and ensure that the commercial expectations of each contract is fulfilled. You will embrace best practice, innovation and new technologies to enhance the client and customer experience and at all times conducting yourself in a professional manner.

We are looking to recruit someone in either the Northeast of England or Edinburgh, Scotland

What you’ll do:

  • Be responsible for prospecting, lead generation and new business developments
  • Development and submission of commercial proposals
  • Working with Divisional and Business Development Directors on target opportunities
  • Work with and support central sales and marketing initiatives
  • Work in partnership with each client and key stakeholders to provide innovative solutions with a focus on continuous improvement and growth of APCOA’s service offering
  • To act as the principle point of contact between the clients and APCOA - contribute on the day-to-day management of the car park management services and other services provided to each client
  • Manage, motivate and lead the team whilst ensuring colleagues are trained and fully equipped to fulfil the dynamic demands of their role
  • Address any areas of underperformance within the area and put in place corrective action plans to address these areas
  • Client reporting, which includes insight and analysis on performance and trends
  • Manage each contract’s P&L, from budget preparation, to budget delivery and addressing areas of underperformance.
  • Monitor and keep abreast of competitor activity

What you’ll bring

  • 3 years proven sales and commercial sales experience with operational, contract, and project management exposure in a client facing role.
  • Be a self-starter, with a resilience and able to operate with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication and relationship development skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills at individual, team, and company level and equally comfortable and effective in communicating with staff, managers, directors, and the public.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in written form.
  • Experience of working in private and public sectors
  • Numerate and literate experience with Microsoft Office tools
  • Full, clean driving license.
