Your tasks

  • Design, construct, install, test, and maintain highly scalable data management systems.
  • Ensure systems meet business requirements and industry practices in collaboration with Data Analysts.
  • Build high-performance algorithms, predictive models, and prototypes.
  • Integrate new data management technologies and software engineering tools into existing structures.
  • Develop set processes for data modeling, mining, and production.
  • Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, and integrating multiple data streams.
  • Collaborate with a diverse group of people and roles to achieve critical project goals.
  • Drive the establishment of data governance and quality standards.
  • Establish and define data engineering processes. You’ll be the first person to join this team, so you will have the opportunity to shape the data analytics unit.

What you bring

  • Proven experience of 5+ years as a Data Engineer or similar role working on relevant production/live projects.
  • Expertise in SQL and NoSQL databases, data modeling, and ETL tools.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as R, Java, Scala, or Python.
  • Experience with big data tools (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and data pipeline and workflow management tools (e.g., Azkaban, Luigi, Airflow).
  • Proficient in integrating and consolidating disparate data streams into a cohesive and reliable data resource using tools such as Informatica, Talend, or Apache NiFi.
  • Skilled in cloud services (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), with solid understanding distributed computing principles and commonly used cloud tools.
  • Proficient in building and optimizing 'big data' pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
  • Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
  • Independent work ethic with a proven track record of initiative and successful project completion.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Leadership experience or potential with the ability to guide and inspire team members.
