The Role
We are looking for a strategic yet hands-on Accounting Manager to lead our financial operations in Poland. This is a pivotal "build and lead" role within our Finance function. Initially, you will be responsible for bringing our Polish accounting processes in-house, establishing robust local controls, and building a high-performing team. As our European operations evolve, this role is designed for rapid growth and your remit will expand to oversee additional European legal entities, centralizing accounting operations under your leadership as we optimize our regional finance structure. Reporting to the regional finance leadership, you will act as a key stakeholder in our European integration, based in Lodz.
How to make an impact
- Transition Leadership: Manage the end-to-end migration of accounting processes from external service providers to an internal function.
- Team Development: Recruit, onboard, and mentor a local accounting team tailored to the needs of the Polish entity.
- Accounting Operations: Oversee all daily operations, including AP/AR, GL maintenance, intercompany, and fixed assets, ensuring accuracy within NetSuite.
- Statutory & Tax Compliance: Lead the preparation of local statutory financial statements under Polish GAAP and ensure timely filing of VAT, CIT, R&D tax, and other local tax requirements.
- Audit Management: Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, managing the annual statutory audit process for the Polish entity.
- Regional Expansion: Gradually absorb the accounting functions for additional European legal entities, standardizing processes across the region.
- Operational Excellence: Implement standardized accounting processes across the region to ensure scalability, consistency, and efficient change management.
About you
You are a proactive leader with a "builder mindset" who thrives on creating order and establishing processes where they don't yet exist. You balance strategic thinking with a willingness to "roll up your sleeves" during transition phases. You are a collaborative communicator who can navigate a fast-paced environment with shifting geographical scopes. Your leadership style is focused on growth, enabling you to hire, train, and retain top finance talent while maintaining a high-performing and inclusive team culture.
Your background
- Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in a senior accounting or finance management role.
- Proven experience managing the full accounting function and local statutory audits in Poland.
- Advanced proficiency in NetSuite is essential.
- University degree in Finance/Accounting; professional certification (ACCA, CIMA, or KIBR) is highly preferred.
- Full fluency in Polish and English; additional European languages (e.g., German, Spanish, or French) are a significant plus.
This role is based in Lodz, Poland - hybrid working.
