We serve a broad and varied range of clients and market sectors and are at a very exciting stage in our evolution, with a number of new projects in development requiring us to expand on our in-house expertise and engineering capabilities.
We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic CAD R&D Engineer / Draughtsman to join our small Design and Development Team. This is a hands-on role for someone who can bring their industry experience and make an immediate impact - taking ownership of production-ready drawings, contributing to new product development, and helping us maintain pace across multiple active projects.
This Role
As a CAD R&D Engineer at FGS, you will be responsible for creating detailed, production-ready manufacturing drawings and component lists and maintaining and updating the drawing register. Your work will support various functions, from new product development design to prototype manufacture and product refinement.
By joining our team, your responsibilities will include:
- Production Drawings: Create detailed, production-ready manufacturing drawings and component lists to ensure accurate and efficient production.
- Drawing Register Maintenance: Maintain and update the register to ensure all drawings are current and accessible.
- Product Documentation: Accurately measure and produce drawings, bills of materials, and instructions for existing and new products.
- R&D Collaboration: Work within the R&D team to design and develop new products and assisting with manufacture and build of prototype devices and components.
- Prototype Research Testing: Support the build and evaluation of prototype devices and components, including collaboration on 3D printed prototypes where required, feeding learnings back into CAD models and production drawings.
- Production Liaison: Collaborate with project and production teams to facilitate the manufacturing process and address any issues.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring projects move efficiently from design to manufacture. You will help ensure drawings are delivered accurately and on time, supporting both production schedules and new product development initiatives.
