Deputy Commissioner of Parking II (White Plains, US)

Under general direction, the incumbent of this class assists the Commissioner in formulating policies and procedures and in administering the activities and programs of the Department of Parking with responsible charge of Transportation Engineering and Operations; performs as City Transportation Engineer; professional transportation engineering work involving responsibility for providing advice and consultation on a wide variety of transportation engineering and highway planning matters using sophisticated and highly specialized automated technology in developing traffic systems and monitoring traffic flow and data. Supervision is exercised over a staff of professional, paraprofessional, maintenance and clerical support staff.
Desirable training and qualifications: either:
- Master’s Degree* in Traffic Engineering, Transportation Planning, or Engineering, and five (5) years traffic engineering experience; or
- Bachelor’s Degree* in Traffic Engineering, Transportation Planning, or Engineering, and six (6) years of traffic engineering experience; or
- A satisfactory equivalent combination of training and experience, as defined by the limits of A) and B) above.
- Preferred Professional Traffic Operation Engineer (PTOE).
Special requirement:
Possession of or eligible for a license issued by the State of New York as a Professional Engineer. Possession of a license to operate a motor vehicle in NY State.
