Software Development Engineer II-Java (Bengaluru, IN)
Our Journey
Get My Parking (GMP), founded in 2015 in Bengaluru, is on a mission to digitize parking globally and make parking a “sub-conscious experience.” With a lean and high-trust culture, it’s now a Great Place to Work-certified startup, boasting deployments in over 20 countries, managing more than 3,000 parking lots, and processing over 100 million parking transactions. GMP powers everything from AI-powered ExpressLane gates to white-labeled parking apps, EV charging, shared mobility hubs, and more, bringing AI, IoT, and cloud tech together to retrofit parking infrastructure globally.
What This Role Is About
As an SDE II at Get My Parking (GMP), you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and deploying scalable backend services that power our platform. You’ll take full ownership of features and systems, make key technical contributions, and collaborate closely with talented engineers. Working alongside product, design, and data teams, you’ll help translate ambitious ideas into reliable, production-ready solutions. This role gives you the opportunity to drive projects end-to-end, while continuously learning and growing in a high-performance startup environment.
What You’ll Do
Engineering Excellence
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and PostgreSQL.
- Apply strong database design principles, optimize queries, and ensure efficient use of PostgreSQL at scale.
- Build and optimize microservices for high performance, reliability, security, and cloud readiness on AWS.
- Contribute actively to design and architecture discussions, evaluating trade-offs between speed, scalability, and maintainability.
- Introduce monitoring, logging, and alerting to build highly observable systems.
- Drive automation wherever possible to reduce manual overhead and increase reliability.
- Write comprehensive unit, integration, and performance tests to ensure robust systems.
- Stay current with emerging backend technologies and suggest adoption where beneficial.
Ownership & Delivery
- Translate product requirements into clear technical solutions that align with business goals.
- Own features and services end-to-end — from design through deployment and monitoring — delivering production-ready systems.
- Continuously identify opportunities for refactoring, scaling, and performance improvements.
Collaboration & Mentorship
- Work closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and data teams to deliver seamless end-to-end solutions.
- Contribute to code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing to support team growth.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, ensuring alignment on progress, risks, and deliverables.
- Promote engineering best practices to strengthen a culture of technical excellence.
What You Must Have
- You bring at least 4 years of professional software development experience and a track record of delivering real systems into production.
- You hold a degree in Computer Science (BS/MS) or have equivalent hands-on experience that proves your fundamentals.
- You are fluent in the Java ecosystem — including Spring Boot, Hibernate, and PostgreSQL.
- You’ve designed and built systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, and highly available.
- You understand algorithms, data structures, and design patterns, and you apply them pragmatically to solve real-world problems.
- You care about code quality and have experience with testing, code reviews, and CI/CD practices.
- You can communicate clearly and work effectively with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders.
What Will Set You Apart
- You’ve thrived in high-growth product or SaaS companies and enjoy the pace and ownership they demand.
- You’ve taken projects from concept to production, making technical choices that delivered real business impact.
- You’re hands-on with cloud platforms, especially AWS, and know how to design systems that scale globally.
- You contribute beyond your day job — through open-source, technical blogs, or personal projects that showcase your passion for building.
