Senior Java Backend Developer (Hybrid, Oslo, NO)
We are looking for a senior Java backend developer to help further develop Permit, a central part of our Parksphere platform. With us, you will be part of an autonomous product team with responsibility for both architecture, technology and further development of an established product.
At Giant Leap, we develop cloud-based solutions that make parking easier for both operators and motorists. Through the Parksphere product platform, we digitize and automate the entire parking journey in more than ten European countries.
As part of the Permit team, you will be responsible for one of our most important solutions. Permit is a business-critical solution that handles digital parking permits, zone parking and subscription solutions for municipalities, businesses and parking companies in several European countries. The solution is used every day by both businesses that manage parking and motorists who expect a simple and seamless experience. You will be a central part of an autonomous development team with great influence on both architecture, technology and product development. Together, you have a long-term responsibility for the solutions you build and further develop.
Why choose Giant Leap?
With us, you get the best of both worlds. Giant Leap is an agile and product-oriented technology environment with around 90 employees at Skøyen, at the same time as we are part of Visma. This gives you short decision-making paths, great influence and close collaboration in everyday life, combined with the security, professional environments and development opportunities that come with one of Europe's leading software companies.
Your everyday life with us
- You have a central role in further developing, modernizing and operating Permit, with a focus on robustness, security and scalability.
- You further develop and optimize our cloud infrastructure in AWS, and help ensure that the solution utilizes cloud services in an efficient way.
- You'll work closely with product managers, UX designers, and others in a multidisciplinary, autonomous team.
- You are a driving force for good code structure, good architecture choices and solid development principles.
- You use AI-assisted and agentic development as a natural part of the development work.
We are looking for you
We are looking for someone who is an experienced developer with solid technical expertise, and who is also committed to creating good solutions for our customers. To succeed in the role, we believe that you have:
- At least 5 years of relevant experience with backend development in Java.
- Solid technical expertise and experience with Spring or similar frameworks.
- Knowledge of front-end development is an advantage.
- Experience with cloud architecture and AWS. If you also have experience with containers, serverless or cloud infrastructure, it is a big plus.
- Good understanding of REST APIs and relational databases.
- Experience with agile working methods, and a conscious relationship to test-driven development and security.
- Good communication skills, and you enjoy discussing and further developing technical solutions with the team.
- You are fluent in a Scandinavian language (Norwegian, Swedish or Danish) and English, both spoken and written.
We offer:
- A central and exciting role in a product with great societal benefit and over 1.5 million end users.
- Competitive terms, including good pension and insurance schemes through Visma.
- Modern offices in Karenslyst allé on Skøyen with a good canteen, barista and roof terrace.
- A flexible working day, where you help shape the balance between office and home office
- An inclusive working environment with high ceilings, strong professional environments, hackathons and social events.
