The Spirit of the Position:

The Parking Meter Coin & Data Collector provides revenue and data collection support to the city of Maryland Montgomery County’s Parking Meter Management team. A Meter Collector is expected to securely collect coin revenues from assigned collection routes, report broken meter faults and safety hazards, and provide customer support within the County.

Principal Job Duties:

  • To utilize assigned collection equipment to retrieve and deposit parking meter coin revenue into collection vaults by walking from meter to meter along designated routes as assigned by Supervisors
  • To report the condition of the meters and non-collected meters using the provided reporting documents during the collection process
  • To load used coin vaults onto vehicle and assist with return to the collection facility - To use collection maps to read and understand assigned collection routes
  • To work as a team, while adhering to safety and security protocols
  • To act as an ambassador and professionally represent LAZ and our client
  • To follow pre-established guidelines to successfully perform the functions of the job
  • Maintain and care for all company issued equipment.
  • Assist with any special assignments and projects as requested.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.

Experience:

  • General knowledge of streets and directions is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of outdoor work experience is required
  • Previous experience with cash handling, security, working as part of a team, working outdoors or early mornings (5:30am start time) are preferred but not required.
  • Crew/Team cooperation, safety mindedness, attention to detail and the ability to follow pre-established maps are required.
  • Experience working within a diverse work environment and in all metered areas throughout Montgomery County.
  • Conflict resolution skills.

Physical Demands:

  • Willingness to work in the elements - heat, wind, snow, rain, etc.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull at least 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time (95-100% of shift) - no sitting is allowed.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat and lift frequently throughout a shift.
