Technical Product Manager (Vancouver, CA)

We're seeking a Technical Product Manager to join us!

The Technical Product Manager (TPM) takes on ownership within a product area and is responsible for optimizing the value of the work performed by the Scrum Team. They provide the team with clarity and a shared understanding of the work, objectives and how this plays into overall strategy.

The Technical Product Manager bridges the business and technical domains, providing analysis and requirements to ensure business outcomes are met. They work and collaborate with their team, the product and technical leads, design, and stakeholders to translate product roadmaps and features into applications that delight our customers.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Function as the Product Owner in the agile software development process throughout the product life cycle.
  • Manage the order of items in the Product Backlog to best achieve goals and missions.
  • Ensure that the Product Backlog is visible, transparent and clear to all stakeholders.
  • Work with the development teams on what to work on and when, thereby optimising the value of the products and features delivered.
  • Work with the product manager to collect feedback, define, design and lead the development of software improvements and enhancements.
  • Represent the customer throughout the process of defining, designing, building, testing and launching a product and any new features.
  • Write user stories, specifying requirements and acceptance criteria with detail and clarity sufficient for implementation and testing.
  • Work with user experience (UX) designers to create a compelling user experience around each story, expressed through wireframes, mock-ups or prototypes.
  • Work with development engineering teams to communicate the product vision, clarify use cases and requirements, resolve issues arising during development, and accept stories as they are completed.
  • Conduct internal demonstrations of the product at regular intervals during development, to communicate progress and solicit stakeholder feedback.
  • Collaborate with other functions leaders (marketing, sales, operations, customer services, and professional services) in the development product positioning, go-to market strategies, and pre- and post-sales activities related to the product needed to successfully sell, implement and service the product.
  • Serve as the internal and external evangelist for your product or product area.
  • Monitor quality indicators to drive continuous product and process improvement.
  • Coordinate product launch and release activities with relevant stakeholders including active involvement in risk mitigation.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand, document, triage and fix live issues or defects.

You’ll excel in this role if you have:

An assertive, clear, and easy-to-understand communication style - Having previously worked with different departments, stakeholders, and development teams, you understand the importance of communicating cross-functionally. Different people have different communication styles and you’re able to translate priorities and information across all audiences

A strong team player mentality - Your work will involve a lot of independent work mixed with collaborating with different teams to bring a product roadmap to life and turn an idea into a meaningful product. You take pride in owning the projects you work on and are a huge advocate for bringing different perspectives together to build something great.

The must-haves:

  • 3-5 plus years of related experience in a Technical Product Manager role, ideally in a SaaS environment.
  • Experience with products that use consumable APIs.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
