APCOA Parking: new product strategy based on know-how from 13 countries

APCOA Parking Holdings seized the opportunity of the 15th edition of “expo real“, the Munich real estate fair to present its new product strategy. Europe’s number one parking manager is active in many business areas exceeding the traditional scope of parking services.

In Germany APCOA now increasingly offers customers the surveillance of parking space. This service segment, which for decades has been a successful part of APCOA’s service portfolio abroad, is now being introduced in Germany by APCOA’s subsidiary Park&Control GmbH. This company monitors compliance of parking regulations at ungated parking facilities, or rather at parking disc or “pay and display” zones.

Also in the traffic management segment APCOA has novelties on offer for the market. Part of that offer is the taxi management system, which is the instrument to organize and regulate taxi traffic at airport, fairgrounds and railway stations. APCOA’s experience at the Stockholm Arlanda airport has proven the outstanding functionality of the system, extraordinarily raising the quality of taxi services. APCOA is already running the system at the Berlin Tegel Airport, and will employ it at the intercontinental airport Berlin Brandenburg (BER) after its opening.

Also at inner-city parking garages innovation is awaiting drivers. Together with carmaker smart APCOA launched a pilot project in several of Germany’s major cities. Smart drivers are benefitting from contact-less access to parking garages. Opening of barriers and billing of parking duration are effected automatically by an RFID-chips places behind the windscreen.

The systematic roll-out of product novelties is powered by new management departments at APCOA corporate headquarters, which steer business of the national subsidiaries. Ralf Bender, APCOA chief executive officer: “This management innovation was a necessity in order to bundle our unique corporate expertise and roll it out across our European subsidiaries. We are thus mobilizing our most valuable asset, our enormous know-how and decades of experience as the European market leader for the good of our customers.”

The new product strategy is getting tailwind through a Europe-wide standardization of the thirteen subsidiaries’ company names within the APCOA Parking Group. A new APCOA corporate logo is rounding of the innovation.
