- Atlanta, Georgia, US

The Georgia Chapter of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) recently named the new U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs parking garage in Atlanta, GA the first place winner in the Parking Deck category of the Dan R. Brown Awards Program.

The ACI was founded in 1904 and is a society dedicated to improving the design, construction, maintenance, and repair of concrete structures.

For this 500-space design/build Veteran’s Affairs garage, Timothy Haahs and Associates, Inc. (TimHaahs) provided prime design services and coordinated with contractor, C & C Contractors, to contribute to the project’s success. The garage is a four-level, precast parking structure that provides an attractive first impression to the medical center’s patients and visitors.

TImHaahs’ designers used concrete panels that complement the existing architecture on campus to aesthetically integrate the structure with its surroundings. A walkway/gathering is located at the structure’s mid-point to collect patients and visitors before they head into the extremely active medical center.
