The Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America) today honored Streetline, a leading global provider of Smart Parking solutions for cities, airports, universities, private garages, and consumers, for pioneering an integrated smart parking platform.

Streetline’s parking solutions use sensors in parking spaces to detect the presence of a vehicle, and feed the data through to a variety of applications for cities and drivers alike. Parker™, Streetline’s consumer-facing smartphone application, provides real-time parking information to drivers, guiding them to open spaces, giving them pricing and policy information, and enabling parking reservations by smartphone. ParkSight Portal gives cities the information they need via a web application, to implement smarter policy and pricing by having real-time information and historical analytics at their fingertips.

“We are honored to receive this prestigious award from ITSA,” Said Zia Yusuf, CEO of Streetline. “Intelligent transportation solutions, fueled by the revolution in real-time data and mobile devices, are shaping how we work and live. Sensor enabled Smart Parking solutions are leading the charge in shaping the future of intelligent transportation and we are grateful for the support and encouragement of ITSA.”

ITS America’s Smart Solution Spotlight award honors companies and organizations for using innovative technology – known as Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) – to create a safer, cleaner, more efficient and sustainable transportation system. Pete Salgado, Senior Vice President & Head of Sales of Streetline was presented with the ITS America Smart Solution Spotlight award in recognition of the company’s use of “smart” technology to address parking needs globally.

“For leading the way in parking solutions, ITS America is honored to present Streetline with the Smart Solution Spotlight Award,” said Scott Belcher, President and CEO of ITS America. “Streetline’s Integrated Parking Solutions effectively manage parking availability, policy, and pricing, which can contribute to a vibrant economy, happy citizens, and a clean environment.”

Results Being Achieved Across the Country:

Motorists looking for parking are estimated to account for 30% of city traffic, and 60% of drivers have decided against an activity in the last year because of the inconvenience of parking, demonstrating the real impact of parking on transportation in our cities and economies. Cities like Los Angeles, Indianapolis, Reno, and Ft. Lauderdale are using real-time parking information from Streetline sensors and applications to guide people to open spaces, implement dynamic pricing for parking spaces based on actual demand, and institute smarter parking regulations that provides the turnover and occupancy levels that are optimal for local merchants and consumers.

Transportation agencies like the Washington Metro Area Transportation Authority (WMATA) are using the technology to publish occupancy of their busy park and ride lots, making it easier for riders of the train system to know where they can find a space for their car and take the train into the city. This makes the use of multi-modal transportation more convenient for people who don’t live close to a transit station, which still comprises a significant proportion of our urban population in America.
