DPE powers to increase across the country?
The Department for Transport is asking local authorities and a wide range of the UK's motoring organisations to react to proposals that could see bodies outside of London taking on board enforcement responsibilities for a number of other parking offences.
As a direct result of authorities approaching the DfT about the possibility of extending the scope of DPE contraventions, a list of proposals have been drawn up which outline a number of changes that could be made to the current parking regulations that local authorities have been able to take over from the police.Comments on these proposals should be with the DfT by 28 February, when they will be taken further.
