Tonbridge and Malling Borough, UK, order more Cale terminals
Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council have recently acquired further parking terminals from their local supplier, Cale BriParc, whose Head Office is based within the Borough, in Tonbridge, Kent.
Cale has been chosen as the terminals have a proven track record of security and reliability, with the stainless steel construction of the terminal and advanced anti-vandal features. A small number of the terminals have been installed at new on-street locations as part of a strategy designed to improve the availability of parking spaces for local residents by making on-street parking less attractive for occasional visitors by introducing charging on certain residential streets.
The remainder of the terminals have been installed to replace their older parking machine stock. The previous machines had become outdated and had been subject to vandal attacks.
All of the Cale terminals operated by Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council are linked to a central back office computer via the GSM network. The Windows based software allows the council to remotely obtain ticket vend statistics, audit and event information. In the event of a warning or alarm, the terminal will dial up and report to the central computer. An SMS alarm message can then be sent to a prescheduled mobile phone. Different alarm types can be sent to a number of scheduled phones according to the time of day. As an example, an out of hours cash box removal could be reported to an appropriate officer.
