Wilbur Smith Associates to Help Regional Transportation Agencies Meet Emerging Challenges

Wilbur Smith Associates (WSA) has recently contracted with Metroplan, the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) in Little Rock , Arkansas to help develop a strategic plan for the organization. By consulting and coordinating with Metroplan and participating jurisdictions, WSA will develop a strategic plan that will establish a vision for the region; identify challenges and opportunities for the organization; define an organizational mission statement; define core agency activities; recommend goals and activities with measurable outcomes; and develop specific management and policy agendas. WSA will complete the Strategic Plan in the summer of 2005.
Wilbur_Smith_Assoc.jpgMissoula County and City, Montana has also contracted with Wilbur Smith Associates (WSA) to review the Metropolitan Planning Organization?s (MPO) structure for performing transportation planning and allocating federal transportation funds in the Missoula region. During this review, WSA will assess the current organizational structure and potentially present alternative structures and planning approaches for consideration by the Missoula MPO Board of Directors, which is composed primarily of the region?s chief elected officials. WSA will complete the project by early summer of 2005.

The firm?s MPO experience encompasses leading development of consensus on complex matters of transportation investment, land-use planning, economics, and quality of life at the municipal, metropolitan, and statewide levels.
