Aena Launches €5 Million Tender to Upgrade Parking at Santander Airport

Aena has opened a tender for the renovation of the public parking facilities at Seve Ballesteros-Santander Airport. The project has a budget of €5 million and is expected to take 15 months to complete.

The works will cover approximately 36,000 square metres, including the existing parking areas, access roads and traffic islands. By reorganising the layout, Aena plans to increase parking capacity, bringing the total number of spaces to almost 1,200.

The upgraded facility will provide conventional parking alongside dedicated spaces for electric vehicle charging, passengers with reduced mobility and high-clearance vehicles. Wider internal roads are also planned to improve traffic circulation and make vehicle manoeuvres easier.

Further improvements will include renewed surfacing, pavements, pedestrian routes and road markings. Existing canopies will be repaired or replaced where necessary, while additional covered spaces will be introduced for the newly created bays.

The project also covers new LED lighting, an upgraded rainwater collection and drainage system, street furniture and accessibility improvements. The exit area will be reorganised, including the relocation of barrier equipment and associated traffic islands.

Construction will be completed in phases so that the airport parking facility can remain operational and spaces continue to be available throughout the works.
