World's Largest Airport Parking Facility at Toronto Airport Upgrades Customer Service With TransCore's Wireless RFID Automatic Vehicle Identification System
TORONTO and TAMPA, Fla., Airports Council International 12th Annual Conference,
Sept. 14, 2003 TransCore today announces that Toronto Pearson International Airport, which has the largest airport parking garage facility in the world, upgrades convenience and speed for frequent airport users by deploying TransCore's SmartPass automatic vehicle identification system (AVI).
The system allows patrons to use a windshield mounted wireless RFID (radio frequency identification) communications tag, similar to those used for electronic toll collection, to enter and exit the parking facility through a dedicated express lane without fumbling for cash or credit card. The system deducts payment from a secure account linked to the unique identity number encoded in the customer's transponder tag. Completion is expected by fourth quarter.
