APCOA Takes Over the Multi-Storey Car Park in the Mülheim Shopping Center

Future Parking Authorization Will Be Ticketless With License Plate Recognition

- Stuttgart, Germany
The parking processing technology is to be renewed in the near future so that parking and payment can be made without a ticket.

APCOA PARKING Deutschland GmbH will be the new operator of the multi-storey car park in "Forum City Mülheim" from July 1, 2023. The owner, Commerz Real AG, is repositioning the shopping center and has signed a new operator for the car park with APCOA.

There will also be extensive renovation work, the first floor and the basement with a total of 14,500 square meters will be extensively renovated by the end of 2023. In the course of this, APCOA will also modernize the multi-storey car park, which dates back to the 1970s.

The parking processing technology is to be renewed in the near future so that parking and payment can be made without a ticket. Cameras that scan the license plate directly at the entrance are installed for this purpose. Instead of a ticket, customers then only need to enter their license plate number at the pay station and pay for the corresponding parking time. At the exit, the license plate is scanned again and it is recognized that the parking fee has already been paid. The barrier then opens automatically.

More than 700 new pitches

We look forward to steadily expanding our presence in Germany. By May 2024, when the conversion work on the center side is complete, 746 parking spaces and 40 charging points for electric vehicles will be available in our multi-storey car park,” says Anja Müller, Director Operations at APCOA PARKING Germany. In addition, various Urban Hubs solutions are being planned. With the future management of the Forum car park, the parking management service provider is expanding its portfolio and strengthening its industry expertise.

Under the name "Forum Medikum", health, therapeutic and care services will also be available in the "Forum City Mülheim" in the future and will complement the existing local supply retail trade and gastronomy. The practice areas with 150 to 2,500 square meters are aimed at all areas related to health: in addition to medical practices, there are also physiotherapy, curative education, health insurance companies, medical supply stores and nursing services. In addition, a kindergarten will be built on the ground floor.

The center will remain open during the renovation work.
