Municipality of Breda and ARVOO Imaging Products Use Drone Beyond Visual Line of Sight

- Breda, the Netherlands
Drone Beyond Visual Line of Sight.

The municipality of Breda has become the first municipality in the Netherlands to receive a permit to fly a drone without a pilot (Beyond Visual Line of Sight). Bredata – part of the municipality of Breda – and collaborating parties are now testing the use of a drone in incidents such as traffic accidents and situations in which the fire alarm goes off.

The Hazeldonk industrial estate was chosen for carrying out tests. This complex area has an important economic function and a lot of traffic movements. But there’s also little social control, making the industrial estate ideally suited as a testing ground.

With ARVOO as an innovative partner, a contribution is made to a clean and safe environment through automatic image recognition. ARVOO’s AI software not only offers a solution for automatic detection of license plates (parking enforcement), it also detects litter and road surface wear.

If development is successful, the technology may also be applied to other industrial estates.

A special thanks to our project partners: Gemeente Breda, 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮, Trigion and Mapture.ai.
