Bourne Parking Ltd. handed over the ground floor of a new car park at Portsmouth Continental Ferry Port

Almost 3.5 million passengers use the port each year travelling to France, Spain and the Channel Islands. The building, designed using Bourne Parking’s unique Montex modular frame system, will provide passengers with 516 car parking spaces next to the main ferry terminal, consolidating all long and short-term parking at the port into one safe and easily accessible location. With a clear span of 16.0m, the number of columns in the car park will be kept to a minimum ensuring a continuous, bright and user-friendly parking environment.

Ferry Port manager, Phil Gadd said: “While many of our customers prefer to take their cars with them, the option of travelling as a foot passenger is still popular - particularly during the spring and autumn months when people are heading off on shorter, mini breaks.

“We are continually working to ensure we can provide first class facilities and the new car park has been developed in direct response to customer demand. It is well lit, accessible 24 hours a day and incorporates the latest automated car parking technology.”
