BPA appoints Brintex to manage Parkex

The move is aimed at raising the profile of Parkex to a wider international market and will also allow the BPA to more effectively serve its members. Keith Banbury, chief executive of the British Parking Association, explains: "Parkex began over 10 years ago following calls from within the industry for their own dedicated parking exhibition and conference. It has been enormously successful and, as a consequence, it has grown into a huge event.

"This has meant that more and more staff time has been dedicated to its organisation, and while we recognise the importance of Parkex, our primary goal is to serve all our members. We believe that this partnership agreement with Brintex will allow Parkex International to flourish and also let the BPA focus on its members' needs more closely."

Brintex will run Parkex International alongside the biennial Traffex, already one of the biggest events in the transportation diary, while it will remain a stand alone event in the intervening year.

Malcolm Taylor, group managing director of the Hemming Group, welcomed the arrangement: "We are delighted to add Parkex International to the portfolio of Brintex events. It is a well-established and respected event and has a perfect synergy with Traffex. By running Parkex and Traffex together we will be creating one of the biggest and well-attended traffic-related events in the world, which will be good for both exhibitors and visitors alike."

BPA President Andrew Sampson was equally enthusiastic about the new partnership: "When the decision was taken to allow Parkex International to be run by an outside agency we were very pleased that Brintex took an interest. They have continually proven that they can organise conferences and exhibitions to the highest standards and ones that attract thousands of visitors. We have long admired their professionalism and look forward to working alongside them in the future."

The BPA will retain ownership of Parkex International with Brintex taking care of the organisation and day-to-day running of the exhibition, conference and the BPA's Annual Dinner.
