The award demands a certain level of standard from car parks ensuring key measures are in place to promote safety and reduce crime and fear of crime within parking facilities. Demonstrating this, the Leisure Exchange car park features a dedicated security team who monitor CCTV cameras 24 hours a day and regularly patrol the car park. Thus promoting a safe environment and keeping crime levels low.

Chief Inspector Paul Hepworth, of West Yorkshire Police, stated:

Crime levels at the Leisure Exchange car park, and others in the town, are very low and our aim is to replicate this across the city.

Phil Taylor, Area Development Officer for the North East region of the Safer Parking Scheme agrees, adding to praise to the Leisure Exchanges efforts;

The Leisure Exchange should be congratulated for its efforts to reduce crime and the fear of crime, which is what Park Mark is designed to recognise. The leisure park has been very successful in helping to keep car crime in the car park at almost zero over the last 12 months.

The leisure centre are thrilled with the results, recognising that achieving the Park Mark status adds value and increases customer confidence in their services. Park Manager Christian Dalby said:

We are delighted to have won the Park Mark award. Having Park Mark status gives our customers the confidence of knowing that they and their cars are as safe as possible, which is vital if people are to relax in a leisure environment."

The former Britannia car park at the Leisure Exchange is now being managed, managed by DTZ on behalf of owners The Leisure Fund Ltd Partnership, part of Legal & General.
