Bradley International Airport to Increase Parking Capacity by 20%

Bradley International Airport is expanding its on-site parking facilities to accommodate growing passenger demand. The project will add more than 1,500 spaces to Surface Lot 3, increasing the airport’s total parking capacity by approximately 20%.

Located along Schoephoester Road, the surface lot will be extended across an additional 14 acres. The development was made possible by the relocation of the airport’s rental car operations to the Ground Transportation Center and the subsequent realignment of Postal Road.

Construction has reached approximately the halfway point and is expected to be completed during the winter. The works include site clearance, drainage improvements, grading and paving, as well as the relocation of the lot’s entrance and exit plaza. New LED lighting and parking equipment will also be installed.

The expansion forms part of the Connecticut Airport Authority’s wider strategy for BDL sPARK, Bradley International Airport’s parking operation. Recent upgrades have included new digital signage, refreshed brandingand a multimillion-dollar parking guidance system in the airport garage.

According to the airport authority, demand for airport-operated parking has continued to grow. Expanding the available capacity is intended to provide passengers with greater convenience while supporting additional non-aeronautical revenue for the airport.

Bradley International Airport is operated by the Connecticut Airport Authority and serves as New England’s second-largest airport.
