Budget, Relocation OK, '07 Site

The International Parking Institute's Board of Directors adopted a $2.5 million budget, accepted a plan to relocate IPI's headquarters, and chose Tampa for the 2007 International Parking Conference.
IPI2007.jpgThe actions came as the Board conducted meetings in Savannah this month. Budget: The FY2003 budget calls for new spending on publishing and enhancement of IPI's technical and educational services, along with stronger reliance on the IPI website and expansion of the on-site training program. Relocation: The Board unanimously adopted a committee report saying moving IPI offices "to a more metropolitan...vibrant city" would be "in the best long-term interest of the organization." The special committee will study potential locations and said it hoped to have a final site proposal in May. The panel said: "IPI should be located in an area where it can...continue to be...the world leader in all matters related to parking." 2007 Conference: The Board chose Tampa, Florida as the site of 2007's International Parking Conference. While other cities also submitted attractive bids, the Board decided Tampa would be the strongest "draw". The selection completed a rotation that includes: Long Beach, 03; New Orleans, 04; Fort Lauderdale, 05; Las Vegas, 06; Tampa, 07; New Orleans, 08; Fort Lauderdale, 09; and Las Vegas, 2010.
