ChargePoint and OBE Power to Bring 2500 EV Charging Ports to Multifamily Properties
ChargePoint and OBE Power have announced a new partnership to expand electric vehicle charging access at multifamily residential properties across North America.
Under the agreement, OBE Power plans to deploy approximately 2,500 EV charging ports starting in 2026. ChargePoint will serve as the exclusive provider of charging hardware, software, and related services for the rollout.
The initiative is designed to address a major gap in EV infrastructure: charging access for people living in apartments, condominiums, and other shared residential communities. While home charging remains the most convenient option for many EV drivers, residents without private garages or dedicated parking spaces often have fewer opportunities to charge where they live.
OBE Power will own and operate the charging stations, reducing the need for upfront investment from property owners and managers. This model is intended to make it easier for multifamily housing operators to provide EV charging as an amenity while supporting the growing number of residents who drive electric vehicles.
For ChargePoint, the collaboration strengthens its position in the residential charging market and extends its technology platform into a segment where demand is expected to increase as EV adoption grows. The deployment will combine ChargePoint’s networked charging solutions with OBE Power’s experience in developing and operating charging infrastructure.
The companies said the partnership will help make EV ownership more practical for residents of multifamily communities by bringing charging closer to where vehicles are parked for long periods, particularly overnight.
