Intercom Management on the go: World’s first Mobile Intercom Client by Commend to be available from May

With the launch of the new Commend Intercom Client for Android devices in early May this year, a dream will come true for staff at Commend control desks around the world.

The ingenious new client app will turn their Android based mobile device into a fully functional Intercom Control Desk, which lets them leave the fixed desktop station while remaining in full control. It all comes with the convenience of a latest-generation app, including touch screen interaction and webcam support. But that is not all…

Flexibility to the third degree

The Intercom Client app comes in three versions that transform the display of the mobile device into an ergonomically designed user interface in the form of an Intercom station. The different versions will cover a wide spectrum of various devices and applications:

  • The layout for mobile phones makes optimum use of available on-screen real estate and dynamic menu guidance to enable convenient control of all Intercom voice, video and control functions with a simple flick of a finger
  • The layout for tablet PCs utilises the display of the flat-lined PCs to the max while getting the most from their audio and video capabilities to ensure secure communication that conforms to the high Commend quality standards
  • The Tile layout equips tablet PCs installed behind a sleek high-grade steel panel with all the benefits of a touch-screen Intercom station, complete with custom designable icons and buttons – an ideal solution for applications from in-house directories in the reception area to call and control centres for doors, shutters, production halls, etc. Instead of using the tablet’s built-in audio and camera, the app can also control a hardware Intercom station that can be fitted behind the panel.

All functions can be accessed in two basic operating modes: Default Mode with full menu access for technicians, and Public Mode for end users, which restricts access to specific pre-defined control elements.

Of course, the Mobile Intercom Client app supports the proven Intercom 2.0 range of features (Echo Cancelling, OpenDuplex®, etc.), as well as excellent speech quality at up to 7 kHz bandwidth.

The Basic License includes the graphic user interface and/or full keypad for all dialling functions. Additional functions (e.g., control of barriers or facility equipment, video support or programmable direct dialling buttons) can be unlocked conveniently with optional add-on licenses.

The first release of the Mobile Intercom Client will run on all devices using Android 4.0 or higher. The app will be available from early May this year.
