DESMAN Accepts 2007 Parking Council Best Practices Award

On behalf of their client, the City of Virginia, DESMAN accepted the 2007 Parking Council Best Practices Award at the Institute of Transportation Engineers Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, PA.
The award is in recognition of DESMAN's shared use parking analysis of the Virginia Beach Town Center and reflects the evolution of parking requirements for a dynamic mixed-use project.

In cooperation with the City and Armada Hoffler (developer), DESMAN created a shared use parking demand model that captured the strong market synergy and interrelationship between different land use types. DESMAN discovered that the peak parking demand at Town Center was far less than required by City code and significantly less than suggested by ULI's Shared Parking, 2nd Edition, resulting in a reduction in the number of spaces required for future development.
