No longer parking ticket behind the wiper in Amsterdam

The digital parking enforcement has been taken to the next level. Thanks to a new application, it is no longer necessary to enforce parking rights on street . The paper parking ticket behind the wiper is history and falls directly on the doormat now. As of february, this fully digital way of working has been introduced by the City of Amsterdam and already delivers substantial savings .

Amsterdam is the first municipality worldwide that has introduced this innovative way of parking enforcement. Cition, the organization responsible in Amsterdam for parking enforcement, makes use of SCANMAN, the back office system supplied by Agendum.

This system automatically manages the entire enforcement process: from the signaling of parked vehicles and checking parking rights, to the monitoring of the process and issuing PCN's (Penalty Charge Notices). The system operates in combination with scan cars and scan scooters.

Cition has been working with the back office system Agendum for years now. A recent innovation of this system ensures that the scans are automatically checked if the car is indeed located in a parking place where a parking fee has to be paid. Until recently, the enforcement officer had to check this by himself on street.

Using a precise positioning and the most advanced GPS measurement the new application of SCANMAN calculates whether the vehicle is indeed on the parking place (instead of temporarily double parked next to the parking place). The parking ticket can therefore be issued without checking by the enforcement officer and is directly sent to the postal address of the parker.
