Digital Payment Technologies Makes Parking Data Available to Virtually Any Internet-enabled Application

Web Services allows developers and end users to tap into parking data to deliver improved operational efficiencies, centralized data management and enhanced analysis.
Digital Payment Technologies Corp. (DPT), a leading supplier of electronic parking meters, management software and online services for the multi-billion-dollar parking industry, is pleased to announce the release of DPT Web Services. Web Services enables DPT clients to gain greater operational efficiencies with the development and integration of new applications that tap into the immense data stores of DPTs Internet-based Enterprise Management System (EMS).

Managing parking operations with technology from a variety of manufacturers has always been a challenge. Work processes are inefficient, information is scattered and reports dont always show the big picture. DPT Web Services connects the data from these technologies to deliver new applications that eliminate issues and create value. Potential applications include the ability for enforcement handheld devices to access parking space data in real-time, centralizing financial information from multiple systems and accessing the status of a pay station from a cell phone.

Web Services is a leading technology platform in the next generation of the World Wide Web and we are very excited to ensure that Digitals products remain at the forefront of these technology trends, says DPT Technical Product Manager, Robert Choquette. Our client research has shown that integrating the parking data from our equipment with other existing systems will make our clients operations much more efficient. Our response to this research is the development of DPT Web Services.

DPT has established partnerships will several leading parking equipment vendors to develop applications utilizing DPT Web Services. Existing clients are also planning to utilize this new software tool. The City of Milwaukee, WI, which operates 103 DPT LUKE parking meters, plans to develop several new applications around enforcement and maintenance. The City of Fredericton, NB, is also actively building an application to inject transaction data from its pay stations via the EMS into the Citys financial system. This application will allow the City to streamline financial reporting and eliminate clerical errors.

"We are excited to deliver DPT Web Services to our customers, says DPT CEO, Andrew Scott. With a little programming time, clients can start building applications that use the data stored in the EMS server to optimize their operations and proactively address their unique requirements.
