Drifter Introduces a New Layer of Mobility Intelligence for the Physical World

Drifter Today Announces Its Next Step as a Mobility Intelligence Company.

Swedish technology company Drifter is expanding from digital parking into Physical World Intelligence — turning vehicle movement, real-world observations and AI into actionable insight for owners, operators and mobility partners.

Drifter today announces its next step as a mobility intelligence company: making physical environments measurable, understandable and ready to improve.

Built on intelligent edge devices, vehicle movement data, connected systems and AI, Drifter helps owners and operators understand how real-world locations are actually used — from parking and visitor flows to customer behaviour, accessibility, demand and operational performance.

Parking has long been treated as a transaction: a vehicle arrives, parks, pays and leaves.

Drifter sees something larger.

Every parking session, every vehicle movement and every observed pattern is a signal from the physical world. When those signals are connected, structured and analyzed, parking becomes more than an operational service. It becomes a foundation for real-world intelligence.

Fredrik Durling, CEO of Drifter“Parking is one of the most active and underestimated data sources in the physical world,” said Fredrik Durling, CEO of Drifter. “For years, the industry has focused on payment, enforcement and access. Those areas are still important — but the next step is intelligence. Owners and operators need to understand what is happening across their locations, why it matters and what they should do next.”

From Parking Technology to Physical World Intelligence

Drifter combines edge devices, data systems and AI to make physical environments measurable and intelligent.

The company’s system is built to observe what happens in the field, understand how locations change over time and help organizations act on that insight. This includes solutions for mobility intelligence, vehicle data, digital parking, object recognition, winter operations and EV-related services.

At the center is Drifter OS — the intelligence layer behind Drifter’s solutions. It connects real-world observations, vehicle movement data and AI to create a growing understanding of how physical locations perform and change.

“Most digital tools show data,” Durling continued. “Drifter is built for the next step: turning real-world data into answers, recommendations and operational results. We believe the future of parking and mobility will belong to systems that do not only report what happened, but help improve what happens next.”

Drifter Insights: Your Business, Analyzed for You

The first major expression of this direction is Drifter Insights, an AI-driven intelligence platform for physical locations.

Drifter Insights helps retail destinations, property owners and operators answer questions such as:

  • Which campaigns drive more physical visits?
  • How do visitor frequency and repeat visits change over time?
  • Where do customers come from?
  • How do locations, stores and regions differ from each other?
  • What is changing — and where is the next opportunity?

Drifter Insights

Unlike traditional analytics tools, Drifter Insights is not designed to give customers more data to interpret on their own. It is designed to deliver ready-to-act insight.

Customers ask the question.
Drifter analyzes the data.
The answer is delivered in a form that can be used.

“The goal is simple,” said Durling. “Customers should not need to become analysts to use their data. They should get the answers when they need them.”

A Scalable Way Into the Drifter Ecosystem

Drifter Insights is also designed as a low-friction entry point into the wider Drifter system.

Using the same installed edge devices and vehicle movement data, customers can begin with insights and later add operational solutions when the need is proven. For example, if Drifter Insights identifies a parking occupancy issue, a revenue opportunity or an accessibility problem, the customer can activate Drifter Parking Light as a next step. From there, the system can expand further into Premium space-by-space intelligence, object recognition, winter operations or other Drifter solutions.

This creates a scalable model where customers do not need to make large technology decisions upfront. They can start by understanding their locations — and then add action when the opportunity is clear.

Built for International Expansion

Drifter is now preparing for international expansion, with a model designed around direct relationships with large multi-location customers and local parking partners.

The company’s expansion logic is based on two principles: more locations and more products per location, without requiring a traditional country-by-country organization in every market. Drifter’s platform approach is intended to support both strategic customer rollouts and partner-led local activation across Europe.

“Physical locations everywhere are becoming more complex,” said Durling. “Retailers, property owners, operators and cities all need better visibility into how places are used. Our ambition is to give them that visibility — and turn it into intelligence they can act on.”
