Einride to Acquire Flipturn in $38.4 Million Charging Software Deal
Einride has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire EV charging and energy management software provider Flipturn in an all-stock transaction valued at approximately $38.4 million.
The acquisition forms part of Einride’s expansion strategy in the United States and is expected to strengthen its technology offering for electric commercial fleets. By adding Flipturn’s platform and customer base, Einride plans to establish what it describes as North America’s largest heavy-duty electric vehicle charging ecosystem.
Flipturn currently manages more than 250 MW of charging capacity for customers including major transport companies, autonomous vehicle operators and last-mile delivery fleets. Bringing these assets into Einride’s portfolio will more than double the amount of energy capacity managed by the freight technology company.
The companies intend to combine Flipturn’s charging and energy management capabilities with Einride’s Saga AI platform. The resulting technology stack will cover areas including charge point monitoring, charging schedules, power delivery, driver access, payments and connections to third-party charging networks.
Flipturn’s software can also help fleet operators control electricity expenses by adapting charging activity to time-of-use tariffs and managing peak demand. At a larger scale, Einride expects the combined charging demand of its customers to support more competitive access to external charging infrastructure.
Following the acquisition, Flipturn’s existing team and platform are expected to continue operating within the wider Einride organization. The company will gain access to Einride’s international presence and additional resources while continuing to support its current customers.
