FAA Awards Nearly $615 Million for Airport Infrastructure Projects Across the U.S.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced nearly $615 million in Airport Improvement Program (AIP) funding, supporting 238 grants across 42 states and two U.S. territories. The latest funding round will finance a broad range of airport infrastructure, safety and passenger-focused projects.

The grants include investments in runway and taxiway improvements, terminal projects, airfield safety infrastructure and other airport upgrades. Under the AIP, eligible projects can also cover areas such as airport signage, lighting and markings.

Among the larger individual awards is $21.5 million for Midland International Air & Space Port to rehabilitate a runway. Another $19.5 million will support construction of a new airport in Noatak, Alaska, while San Diego International Airport will receive $15.3 million for noise mitigation measures.

The latest allocation forms part of a wider series of federal investments in U.S. airport infrastructure during 2026. Earlier in August, the FAA announced $870 million through its Airport Infrastructure Grants program, covering 339 grants in 44 states and two territories. In July, another $1.776 billion was distributed through the AIP and Airport Infrastructure Grants programs.
