FEIG ELECTRONIC: Milestone for E-Mobility

Universal Payment System cVEND box+ Embedded in Charging Stations from Wirelane

FEIG ELECTRONIC and Wirelane will make charging processes for electric vehicles much more customer-friendly

FEIG ELECTRONIC and Wirelane will make charging processes for electric vehicles much more customer-friendly in the future. By embedding the innovative payment terminals into the latest generation of the "Light & Charge" charging station series from Wirelane, e-mobilists will be able to make contactless payments more easily and securely in the future.

The rollout of the latest generation of charging stations will significantly increase the acceptance and use of electromobility. Comfort is the key. Many e-car drivers still face a "jungle" of charging and access systems due to the fragmented market. Those who currently want to connect their electric car to one of the approximately 285,000 charging points in the EU, according to Statista, either need a specific charging card in many places or have to go through the complicated process of registering online with the respective providers. Thanks to the payment terminal developed by FEIG in Germany, lengthy and sometimes costly registration processes belong to the past. Users can pay at a charging station equipped with it using an NFC-enabled credit or debit card or girocard. The charging process can also be carried out quickly and easily with popular smartphone wallets such as Google, Samsung or Apple Pay.

In particular, payment by debit card or girocard, which is widely used in Germany, is a great convenience for users, especially when they need to charge their vehicle spontaneously. The current charging station regulation only required operators to offer the option of credit card payment. FEIG's comfort-oriented system deliberately goes beyond this. After all, contactless payment with a debit card or mobile payment solutions via smartphone are becoming increasingly popular and speed up the payment process enormously. That is why loading and payment processes with cVEND box+ are designed for maximum user-friendliness: Hold the card, smartphone or wearable up to the payment terminal, fill up with electricity and drive away - no registration, no payment hurdles. And the customer is immediately provided with a digital payment receipt.

"In Wirelane, we have found an ambitious manufacturer of charging stations that is driving the spread of electromobility just as rigorously as we are driving the use of contactless payment through our flexible and usable terminals. With the cVEND box+, we enable Wirelane to produce and set up particularly comfort charging stations. By this significant simplification of payment and charging processes, we are promoting the further spread of e-mobility in Europe," said Eric W. Pitts, Senior Manager, Payment at FEIG ELECTRONIC.

"We want to make charging possible for all e-mobilists anytime and anywhere, in line with our motto "Charge. Pay. Done.". This requires reliable charging systems with easy, barrier-free access to charging. Running the charging process without inconvenient registration and paying contactless afterwards – this is how we imagine simple charging. The cooperation with FEIG ELECTRONIC is an important milestone on our way to realize our vision of nationwide charging," adds Constantin Schwaab, CEO of Wirelane.

The software installed by FEIG ensures reliable data exchange so that the payment information is forwarded directly and securely to the payment service provider or payment processor. The payment terminal also supports charging station manufacturers such as Wirelane by enabling billing that complies with calibration law and is accurate to the point. FEIG cVEND provides the charging station operator with the data required for the digital payment receipt via data exchange.

Both companies see contactless, secure and ad-hoc payment as a chance to overcome the current limitations in charging station roaming. The fast and uncomplicated payment process without prior registration on roaming or electric service provider platforms enables operators to increase the utilization of their charging stations and at the same time ensure greater transparency in the "pricing jungle". At the same time, significantly higher revenues can be generated.

By integrating smart payment solutions such as the cVEND box+ into reliable charging solutions such as the Wirelane "Light & Charge" series, the two companies intend to jointly further promote cashless payment acceptance in Europe and also contribute an important milestone to the sustained business success of charging station operators.
