Fire Breaks Out in Heathrow Airport Car Park

Heathrow Airport has confirmed that it remains fully operational despite a fire in one of its car parks, though passengers arriving for flights experienced some delays.

The incident occurred at the multi-storey car park serving Terminal 3, where a vehicle caught fire. London Fire Brigade dispatched four fire engines and around 25 firefighters to tackle the blaze.

Videos circulating on social media showed thick smoke billowing from the car park’s first floor. During firefighting operations, the main tunnel connecting Terminals 1, 2, and 3 was temporarily closed, but airport operations continued without interruption.

A Heathrow spokesperson said: “Earlier today, our teams responded to a vehicle fire in the Terminal 3 multi-storey car park. The fire was quickly brought under control, no injuries were reported, and the car park has now reopened. We apologise for any inconvenience caused to passengers.”

Public transport was also affected. Arriva Herts and Essex announced on X that the 724 bus service could not serve the Greenways or Lees Road stops, with buses terminating and starting from Terminal 5 due to the fire.

The disruption coincided with traffic issues on the M25 near Junction 14, where a collision between a car and a lorry earlier in the morning left one person hospitalised. National Highways reported delays of about an hour, with the road not expected to reopen until mid-afternoon.
