Free2move Increases E-mobility in Amsterdam by Adding the Opel Mokka Electric to Its Car-Sharing Fleet
New Addition to Expand Free2move ’s Complete Electric Fleet in the Dutch Capital

Free2move, the global leader in mobility services, is expanding its sustainable car sharing offering in the Netherlands, with the addition of 50 fully electric Opel Mokka Electric vehicles in Amsterdam. With this move, Free2move confirms its commitment to flexible, accessible and environmentally friendly transportation solutions in one of Europe’s most progressive cities.
Equipped with a fully electric drivetrain and advanced technology, the Opel Mokka Electric is an ideal choice for urban mobility. Perfectly suited for short trips or longer distances in and around the city, the Mokka offers both comfort and efficient energy consumption in addition to the Mokka Electric’s performance. This makes it a valuable addition to Free2move’s fleet in Amsterdam. This expansion strengthens Free2move’s presence in the Dutch market and responds to the growing demand for greener mobility solutions.
Direct access via the Free2move app and a user-friendly experience with Digital Charging
All 50 Opel Mokka Electric vehicles are available via the Free2move app, which allows users to easily locate, reserve and unlock vehicles. Flexible rental options (per minute, hour or day) cater to different mobility needs. The integrated Digital Charging function offers a more efficient and smarter way to charge electric vehicles across the fleet. Users can start charging directly via the app, without physical charging cards. Charging stations are displayed in real time, including availability, plug types and maximum charging speed. Thanks to the visibility of locations on the map, users can easily plan their route, choose a charging spot and end their trip while charging. This leads to less parking stress and more convenience. This update also significantly increases the number of accessible charging stations, making sustainable driving in Amsterdam even easier.
Towards cleaner urban mobility
As part of its mission to reduce urban congestion and emissions, Free2move continues to expand and diversify its fleet with electric and low-emission models. In addition to the new Opel Mokka Electric, the Amsterdam fleet also includes a wide range of vehicles tailored to different mobility needs, from compact city cars such as the Peugeot e-208 to the versatile Opel Corsa-e. Together, these models support both the daily use of individual users and the city’s long-term sustainability goals.
"We are very excited about adding 50 new Opel Mokka Electric vehicles to our fleet in Amsterdam. With this, we offer even more sustainable and flexible mobility solutions and stimulate the transition to electric driving. This also aligns with the wishes of our customers, 60% of whom expressed a preference for this model in a recent survey," says Lotfi Louez, co-CEO of Free2move. "Thanks to this collaboration with Opel, we can offer vehicles that meet the needs of our customers, with a simple and user-friendly charging system. A great first step towards the future integration of new models in our fleet."
"The Opel Mokka Electric stands out as a reference in the electric compact SUV segment, with its bold design and advanced technology," according to Andres van der Kuil, Managing Director Opel Netherlands. "This expansion with Free2move emphasizes the growing role of the Mokka Electric in sustainable urban mobility. We look forward to supporting Free2move in Amsterdam and beyond."
