French EV Charging Startup WAAT Secures €100 Million
French EV charging company WAAT has successfully raised €100 million to support its growth across France and other European markets. The funding round was led by DWS Group’s sustainable investment fund and Bpifrance, with participation from existing investor RAISE Impact. The startup did not disclose the exact stakes or detailed financial terms.
WAAT plans to invest the new capital in expanding its charging infrastructure for residential buildings, social housing, and commercial properties. The company aims to reach 250,000 charging points by 2030 while further developing its MyWAAT platform, which incorporates AI-powered functionalities. Despite a competitive market, WAAT has maintained positive EBITDA for three consecutive years and reported annual revenues of €70 million.
The company highlights its commitment to personalized customer service, employing over 250 staff across 20 locations in France, differentiating itself from competitors that rely heavily on automated AI support. WAAT also intends to replicate its successful operating model in international markets, though it has not yet disclosed specific countries or timelines for expansion.
