Get My Parking Appoints Gary Means, PTMP, to Lead B2G Strategy in North America

Get My Parking (GMP), a global leader in AI-driven smart parking and mobility software, today announced the appointment of Gary Means, PTMP, as Vice President, Business to Government (B2G) Solutions, North America.

Means is one of the parking industry's most accomplished municipal leaders. Over a career spanning more than 31 years, he has led public parking systems, managed large private parking operations, driven municipal business development, and held some of the industry's most influential leadership positions. He served as Chair of the International Parking & Mobility Institute (IPMI), a member of its Board of Directors for 11 years, and previously served as Board Treasurer, Chair-Elect, and Past Chair.

In his new role, Means will lead GMP’s North American B2G strategy, with responsibility for expanding the company’s work with municipalities, transportation agencies, parking authorities, BIDs, and other governmental entities, as well as the specialized consulting firms that advise them. He will oversee public-sector engagement from relationship building and early opportunity development through solution development, procurement strategy, negotiation, contract execution, and transition to implementation.

Means spent 16 years as Executive Director of the Lexington & Fayette County Parking Authority, where he led a municipal system encompassing four garages, 1,270 on-street metered spaces, enforcement and collections, and a residential permit program covering more than 2,000 spaces. Under his leadership, the authority increased revenue tenfold and implemented major improvements across payments, mobile LPR enforcement, permits, signage, garage restoration, pay-station technology, and PARCS. The organization became an IPMI Accredited Parking Organization in 2017 and earned the prestigious With Distinction designation in 2023. Its programs also received IPMI awards for garage restoration and marketing and communications.

Means also brings significant private-sector operating and business-development experience to his role. Earlier in his career, he managed a regional portfolio of more than 50 parking facilities encompassing 10,000 parking spaces and over $5 million in annual revenue. More recently, he has focused on municipal and broader parking-industry business development, working with clients to identify operational needs, develop solutions, and advance new opportunities. Combined with his 16 years leading a municipal parking authority, this experience gives him a firsthand understanding of how public agencies evaluate technology, how parking operations perform in practice, and what is required to build support for complex public-sector initiatives.
