Giant Leap Technologies Wins Mayo County Council

County Mayo in the west of Ireland with a population of 140,000 people is well known for its beautiful landscape and its warm welcome for tourists. Earlier this year Mayo County Council went to tender for a new Parking Fines Management System to cover five main towns across the county. Giant Leap Technologies was successful in their bid and the new system complete with handheld devices and mobile printers went live in September 2019.

The system includes a handheld device, PocketControl with its user-friendly interface allowing wardens to register data quickly and efficiently. It has an in-built ANPR function that uses the camera on the smartphone to scan and read license plates to cross-check against digital permits and parking apps.

Operated by Mayo County Council staff, the new system also features a back-office suite supporting the entire life-cycle of a parking ticket. At its core is a strong workflow engine that automates everything from the retrieval of vehicle owner information, payment reminders and appeals management to exporting to collection services. The new system also includes online appeal and online payment options for enhanced customer service.
