Heathrow's Terminal Drop-Off Charge Project a Success

In November 2021 Heathrow Airport launched its Terminal Drop-Off Charge (TDOC). The TDOCs purpose was to; support our environmental objectives, encourage a shift towards sustainable forms of transport, improve air quality, and contribute to decarbonization.

The TDOC was delivered from concept to launch over a highly ambitious 12-month program. With technology at its core, the project required the installation and integration of multiple systems, including roadside infrastructure, back-office data processing systems, and digital tools to support operations and customers. Thanks to the project management of our delivery team, we achieved our program and successfully launched on time and within budget.

The APM Project Management Awards are designed to recognize project excellence, both in delivery and outcomes. There are four project of the year award categories, representing different types of projects. The winners of each of these awards are entered into the prestigious overall project of the year category, of which there is one winner.  

The technology project of the year award is given to the team whose project demonstrates the most effective use of project management and the greatest benefits and outcomes to end users in technology and communication projects.
