HERE and JLR Extend Partnership to Simplify EV Charging
New in-vehicle functionality will help JLR drivers identify compatible charging stations using real-time and predictive information
HERE Technologies and JLR have expanded their collaboration to improve the public charging experience for drivers of the automaker’s electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
The companies are integrating HERE’s EV Charge Point functionality with eMobility service providers connected to JLR’s charging network. Through the vehicle’s navigation display, drivers will be able to identify charging locations that are compatible with their vehicle and charging services.
The system builds on HERE’s existing electric vehicle routing technology, which provides information on the current status of charging stations and forecasts their likely availability. These capabilities are intended to help drivers select suitable charging stops, reduce unnecessary waiting and plan longer journeys more efficiently.
The feature will initially be introduced in the United Kingdom and Europe, before being extended to Australia and New Zealand.
By presenting compatible charging options directly within the vehicle, HERE and JLR aim to reduce uncertainty surrounding charger access and make public charging easier to navigate. The solution uses continuously updated station information informed by artificial intelligence, vehicle sensor data, real-world testing and feedback from charging station users.
