Holiday Extras: One in Ten UK Holidaymakers Saved £100 Last Year by Booking Airport Parking in Advance
New data from Holiday Extras reveals millions are still leaving money behind by paying on the day, despite average savings of £202 for customers who pre-booked airport parking in 2025.
One in ten UK holidaymakers saved at least £100 on their holiday last year simply by booking their airport parking in advance with Holiday Extras, new data reveals.
Analysis of airport parking bookings made in 2025 shows that almost 2.5 million travellers saved £100 or more compared with the price they would have paid by driving up and paying on the day. That equates to one in ten of the 25 million people who flew out of the UK last year.
The findings underline how costly paying on the gate can be, even for travellers who are otherwise savvy about finding flight and accommodation deals.
Average Savings Were £202 for Customers Who Booked Ahead
In fact, the average saving for Holiday Extras airport parking customers last year was £202, meaning most customers saved enough to cover meals, transfers or a significant chunk of their spending money simply by booking ahead.
Half of all customers saved at least £150 on their airport parking by pre-booking, and nearly a third saved 75% or more compared with the on-the-day price.
David Norris, Chief Growth Officer at Holiday Extras, said:
“Too many people still treat airport parking as an afterthought, even though it can be one of the biggest avoidable costs at the start of a trip. Last year, one in ten UK holidaymakers saved £100 just by booking their parking in advance with us, and for most people the saving was far higher than that.”
“When you consider how expensive holidays have become, that kind of saving can make a real difference. It is money people can spend on experiences while they are away, rather than handing it over at the airport barrier.”

Holiday Extras Urges Travellers to Book Parking as Soon as Flights Are Booked
Holiday Extras is urging travellers to book their airport parking as soon as they book their flights, as prices tend to rise closer to departure and availability can be limited during peak travel periods.
Notes to Editors
Savings are calculated by comparing the price each customer paid for their airport parking through Holiday Extras with the gate rate for that car park where available, or the cheapest gate rate at the same airport where a gate rate is not available. Data covers bookings made between 1 January and 16 December 2025.
