HUB: A New Chapter for Urban Mobility in the Heart of Arezzo

Located in the heart of Tuscany, Arezzo is a city renowned for its museums, monuments, and historic views that tell centuries of art and culture. Piazza del Popolo is one of the busiest and most strategic areas for urban mobility, a key reference point for residents and tourists looking to move easily and safely through the streets of the historic center.

For this reason, the restyling of the underground car park in Piazza del Popolo represented a significant regeneration of a strategic public infrastructure for the city's urban mobility, the result of a wide-ranging project carried out during the final three months of 2024, encompassing structural, aesthetic and functional aspects.

Particular attention was devoted to safety and monitoring, with solutions enabling continuous and accurate oversight of the facility through the installation of readers at pedestrian access points and the enhancement of the CCTV system, thereby ensuring high standards for both users and operators. This is complemented by the introduction of innovative technologies aimed at improving air quality, in line with the goal of making spaces not only functional, but also healthier and more sustainable.

The facility, spread across five underground levels and with a clear distinction between short-term parking areas for a total of 102 parking spaces and areas reserved for residents, has undergone a reorganization process designed to improve entry and exit flows, making the parking experience more intuitive and efficient.

The graphic installations that now adorn the parking areas not only enhance the aesthetics of the environment but also guide visitors toward the heart of the historic center and its wonders, welcoming them back with an atmosphere of warmth and comfort.

Alongside the infrastructural renewal, there has been significant interest in private parking spaces within the facility. The last car storage units available under surface rights are now on offer, an increasingly appreciated solution among residents and operators in the historic center, who seek convenience, security, and long-term investment value.

The project therefore fits into a broader vision of the car park’s evolution, increasingly conceived as an integrated node within urban mobility systems, open to future digital implementations and additional services capable of meeting the needs of a modern and dynamic city.

In this context, the Arpinge Group, to which Parkinge belongs, collaborated with HUB Italia to install new systems enabling automated management of entrances and exits, faster payment processing, and more immediate access to available services.

The system was designed to ensure an orderly and safe flow: one entry and one exit, each equipped with LPR cameras, enable automatic license plate recognition, while two automated payment stations and one staffed cashier with FCJ functionality offer multiple payment options. For box owners, a nested area managed via UHF tags ensures fast, seamless access.
