High-Efficiency Parking for High-Speed Trains: Terminal One Parking at Mediopadana AV by HUB Parking Technology

Terminal One parking at Mediopadana AV

Terminal One, the new open-air parking lot at Reggio Emilia AV Mediopadana station, was inaugurated on April 7th. The station is managed by Ferrovie Emilia Romagna and can be recognized from a distance by the grandiose sail-shaped structure designed by the world-famous architect Santiago Calatrava.

Thousands of commuters on the Milan-Bologna High-Speed line and travelers make the station the point of departure or arrival of their journey, thus creating a constant flow of vehicles near the structure.

Terminal One is the intelligent solution for the management of parking, resulting from the investment of the private company Terminal One: it consists of a new parking lot with 1,300 spaces that will bring the total number of parking spaces to over 2,400, with access control system, video surveillance and adequate public lighting.

Three parking areas are available to travelers: P4 (Business), P5 (Smart), P6 (Club). They apply different rates, depending on the distance from the station entrance and the services offered. All areas are set up to offer electric charging to every vehicle place, in anticipation of growing hybrid and EV traffic.

Access to Terminal One is intuitive and quick, thanks to info mobility signs on Agla variable message display modules that inform drivers to the nearest available lanes. The Jupiter system on this facility includes stations with VOIP integrated video intercom, license plate recognition technology through Selea LPR cameras and Telepass access, as well as 2 automated pay stations set up for digital payments, NFC contactless, Apple Pay and Google Pay. The exit lanes are equipped with standard peripherals that accept debit and credit card payments, via pin pad, to provide users with even more choice and flexibility. Out of the 10 lanes, 2 are dedicated also to motorcycles traffic, thanks to an additional loop, which detects with a conductive detector the transit of a motorcycle or scooter, so as to automatically apply a different rate from that of cars and vans.

Those who travel by High Speed train have equally high expectations regarding the efficiency of services and their quality: for technological passengers who are always connected, Terminal One is working on a mobile app solution that offers car space booking, valet services for longer stops, and the possibility of managing passes and subscriptions. We will tell you about its evolution in the future!

Mobile app transactions and dynamic parking pricing, as well as monitoring device status and stalls occupancy, are fully under control thanks to the JMS management software, which integrates data from all devices interconnected to the Jupiter system and returns a real-time snapshot of parking operations to Terminal One staff - at all times, and in cloud too!

A really impressive project by the HUB Italy team: congratulations for the great job!
