HUB: Seamless Parking for Monte Pratello Cableway Facilities
The Monte Pratello Cableway Facilities are located in southern Abruzzo, on the Cinque Miglia Plateau, in the Central Apennines on the border of the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, and serve the Alto Sangro ski area: the largest in central Italy with over 130 km of ski slopes.
The area has numerous ski lifts, including the Monte Pratello station, which has 3 chairlifts, 2 gondola lifts, 3 ski lifts and a beginner-friendly magic carpet, taking tourists and sports enthusiasts to a maximum altitude of 2,056 meters in both summer and winter.
The two car parks at the foot of the Monte Pratello ski lift were completely renovated at the end of 2025, with the transition from the Parqube vehicle access control system (HUB line) to the Jupiter and JMS systems. The increase in the flow of visitors, both occasional and season ticket holders, has made it necessary to implement a more effective and digitized parking management system, in step with the times and capable of coping with seasonal peaks in visitor numbers.
The company that manages the ski slopes and ancillary infrastructure, S.I.F.A.T.T. srl, has renewed its trust in HUB Italia to modernize the car park and improve the user experience, reducing waiting times at entry and exit, ensuring greater safety for people and vehicles, and integrating parking with ticketing systems (ski passes).
Client requirements
- Robust and reliable system, consistent with the previous one, resistant to harsh winter temperatures (down to -30°C)
- Integration with Telepass toll system payment
- Integration with the existing ski pass ticketing system (ALFI), e.g. offering free or discounted parking to those who purchase a multi-day ski pass
- Payment at the exit lane
- Advanced reporting for administrative management
- Advanced remote monitoring and predictive diagnostics to minimize on-site interventions
- Efficient management of subscribers, occasional users and staff
- Easy-to-access digital management platform (JMS)
Solution
HUB Italia implemented an advanced automated management solution with Jupiter and JMS, taking over from the Parqube system.
The technical team installed, configured, tested and commissioned the system in just three days, ensuring immediate operation for the ski season. This exceptional result was made possible by the meticulous preparation of the site and the modularity of the new system, which requires a very short pre-staging phase and allows for even faster implementation.
The facility's 500 spaces are divided into two areas, each with a specific configuration: Main Area and Secondary Area, for a total of 3 entry lanes and 3 exit lanes. All lanes are equipped with Magnetic PRO barriers, combined at the entrance with panels and traffic lights that indicate the occupancy status of the area: green if there are spaces available, red if full.
The first strategic digital integration is with the existing ski ticketing system (ALFI): JMS communicates with the Alto Sangro ski pass issuing system, offering special deals, discounts and concessions according to seasonal plans. For example, it allows free or discounted parking to be offered to those who purchase a multi-day ski pass, simply by showing the QR code of the valid ski pass on exit. This improves customer experience from the car park to the ski slopes and encourages the purchase of ski passes.
The second significant digital integration concerns access and payment with Telepass toll system: in two dedicated lanes in the Main Area, it guarantees maximum entry/exit speed for those who own the device and reduces queues at peak times.
Payment for occasional users (typically daily visitors) is quick and easy: at the cable car ticket office when purchasing a ski pass, or directly at the exit lane by presenting the ticket to the optical reader of the Jupiter LXS device, enabled for electronic payments with a POS terminal.
The entire system is managed via JMS software, configured on-premise. Thanks to an intuitive dashboard, the JMS platform provides 24/7 visibility of traffic, transactions and operations in progress in the two parking areas, ensuring full control for operational staff. JMS also allows you to configure and customize real-time reports on occupancy and other indicators, simplifying the work of the administrative department.
For those who ski, hike, or work in Monte Pratello, parking is now a simple, fast and efficient experience.
