INDECT USA Announces the Largest Installation of Wireless NEDAP Sensors

INDECT USA, the parking industry’s leading provider of sensor-based parking guidance systems, has once again successfully collaborated with IPsens (www.ipsens.net) to provide a fully-integrated, wireless parking solution at Assembly Row.

The installation of 1144 wireless, in-ground, open-air sensors took less than two weeks to complete making it not only the largest installation of its type in the USA but also one of the fastest.

Assembly Row is a massive mixed-use development area, owned and operated by Federal Realty Investment Trust. It boasts premium retail outlets, restaurants, residential and office spaces, 12-screen cinema and a busy MBTA Orange Line mass transit station nearby.  The area has several undercover garages and a large open-air parking lot servicing retail giants Bed Bath and Beyond, Kmart, Staples, Christmas Tree Shop, Trader Joes and TJ Maxx.

With the recent introduction of paid parking in the undercover garages, management was concerned that many commuters would choose to park for free in the open-air parking lot making it harder for shoppers to find available parking. The wireless in-ground sensors allow management to easily monitor customer’s length of stay and ensure that any time limits are observed.

It’s effectively electronic chalking,” said Dale Fowler, President of INDECT USA. “In fact, it’s better than traditional chalking because it’s more reliable and accurate.”

Whether management decides to enforce time limits by issuing parking fines will depend on the data collected and reports generated through the INDECT software.

At present the Assembly Row installation does not include parking guidance signage, however, one of the benefits of choosing an INDECT system is the flexibility to upgrade or expand as the need arises.
