InstaVolt Expands Zapmap Payment Access Across UK Charging Network

InstaVolt has extended its partnership with Zapmap, enabling electric vehicle drivers to pay for charging through the Zapmap app or Zapmap charging card at more than 2,500 InstaVolt Rapid and Ultra-rapid chargers across the UK.

The chargers are spread across almost 900 locations, including retail and hospitality destinations as well as sites along major road routes and motorway service areas. InstaVolt's network includes locations associated with brands such as McDonald's, Costa Coffee and Booths.

Through the expanded collaboration, Zapmap's user base of more than one million drivers can locate participating InstaVolt chargers, check information such as availability and pricing, and complete payment within the same platform.

InstaVolt becomes part of Zapmap's wider payment-enabled network, which covers more than 80,000 chargers operated by over 50 charging networks. These include on-street, destination and en-route charging locations.

The InstaVolt network has also been developing battery-supported charging infrastructure. Its Winchester superhub can accommodate 44 vehicles, while the company's site at Welcome Break Corley on the M6 incorporates on-site battery storage connected directly to the charging equipment.

The partnership is intended to simplify the charging process by giving drivers another payment option while reducing the need to use separate systems for different charge point operators.

Zapmap users can register a credit or debit card and pay through the app or with the company's charging card. Apple Pay and Google Pay are also supported on compatible devices.

In addition to payment, drivers using Zapmap can access live charger status information, review their charging history, download receipts and keep track of charging expenditure.

For InstaVolt, the expanded payment integration complements its focus on placing high-powered chargers at locations where drivers can make use of nearby retail and hospitality facilities while their vehicles charge.
