In the important economic regions of Catania in Sicity there is a high volume of traffic with the corresponding shortage of parking spaces. In order to get the parked vehictes under controt and increase the income from parking fees compared to the existing system, the city acquired pay and display (P&D) vending machines.
In November 2010 the executive partner of ATB Automatentechnik Baumann, Dr Wolfgang Baumann and the president of the parking facility management company Sostare, Dr Maurizio Lanza, signed the agreement on the installation of 300 P&D vending machines. The sotarpowered vending machines are very fit for purpose for both user and operator. The user-friendly design of the operating. interface, its graphicat display and the various payment options permit users to get their parking tickets faster than was possible before by the purchase of so-called scratch cards in sates kiosks, and at any time of the day. Apart from drawing a parking area ticket, there is also the option of acquiring a bus ticket by selecting an additional button, which includes another service function for the motorist. For the operator ATB's own management and accounting system ISMAS was instatted, which links all the vending machines, produces stateffients, provides information in the event of problems and assistance in maintenance and service. 

Abu Dhabi

The first negotiations with the desert state Abu Dhabi began in 2006 for a concept on comprehensive parking facility management. In 2009 Abu Dhabi finally signatted its agreernent, apart from the off-street area, to manage the entire city area as well with on-street P&D vending machines. The technical demands were very high. For the city's decision-makers important criteria included not onty top quality, but also design appropriate to the city.
ATBvending machines have been demonstrating their abitities for over 15 years in the United Arab Emirates. Consequently, together with the tong-standing partner Energy International in Dubai, which is responsible for the service and maintenance of the ATB machines in Dubai, it was possible to obtain the first order in the spring of 2010. Up to the end of 2010 about 1000 vending machines had already been installed in Abu Dhabi. There is another order for 430 machines.
Managing director Dr Wolfgang Baumann is highty satisfied with this devetopment: "I am very pleased with the fact that our company was considered in the world's biggest parking project. I always have been and remain convinced of the quality of our vending machines. The demonstrably very tow error ratio and simple operation and handling of the devices and above all our flexibility and individuality in deating with such major projects guarantee our success."
